Precautions for using wire rope clips:

(1) The size of the clip must be suitable for the thickness of the wire rope. The inner clear distance of the U-bolt should be 1–3 mm larger than the diameter of the wire rope. If the clear distance is too large, it will be difficult to clamp the rope tightly.

(2) During use, tighten the U-bolt until the wire rope is compressed by about one-third. Since the wire rope deforms under load, the clip must be tightened a second time after the rope is under tension to ensure the connection is secure. To check whether the clip slips after the wire rope is under load, an additional clip can be installed. Place this clip about 500 mm from the last clip, bend the rope end slightly, and clamp it together with the main rope. If the clip slips, the bend will straighten, making it easy to detect and reinforce in time.

(3) The spacing between clips should generally be 6–7 times the diameter of the wire rope. The clips should be arranged in the same direction, with the U-bolt part placed on the side of the rope end and the saddle on the side of the main rope.

(4) Correct quantity and method: For wire rope diameters ≤18 mm, use at least 3 clips;

For wire rope diameters 18 mm–26 mm, use at least 4 clips;

For wire rope diameters 26 mm–36 mm, use at least 5 clips;

For wire rope diameters 36 mm–44 mm, use at least 6 clips;

For wire rope diameters 44 mm–60 mm, use at least 7 clips;

After installation and under load, check for looseness once or twice. In general, the nuts need further tightening.

Precautions for using wire rope clips: Do not use them for extended periods. Regularly inspect and retire them as scheduled; they should not be reused repeatedly.
