Pharmaceutical and Biochemical:

Metal Ion Chelating Agent: Possesses strong chelating ability for heavy metal ions (such as mercury, lead, copper), and can be used in the development of heavy metal detoxification agents or as in vivo metal ion scavengers.

Enzyme Inhibitor: Inhibits the activity of specific enzymes (such as proteases, kinases) by binding to metal ions or sulfhydryl groups at the enzyme's active site, possessing potential antibacterial and antitumor activities.

Cephalosporin Antibiotic Intermediate: The amino and sulfhydryl groups on the side chain can modulate the drug's water solubility and targeting ability, used for synthesizing novel cephalosporin derivatives.

Chemical Synthesis and Catalysis:

Ligand: Acts as a multidentate ligand to form complexes with transition metals (such as palladium, platinum), catalyzing coupling reactions, cyclization reactions, etc., and improving reaction selectivity.

Thiolation Reagent: Used to introduce sulfhydryl groups or tetrazole rings into organic molecules, constructing complex heterocyclic compounds.

Material Surface Treatment:

Used for metal surface modification, forming a protective film through the strong adsorption of sulfhydryl groups to metals, improving the metal's corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance (especially for precious metals such as gold and silver).
