Main Uses

　　Organic Synthesis

　　As a boron source, used to prepare boron-containing organic compounds (such as borate esters, organoboranes), and serves as an intermediate precursor for the Suzuki coupling reaction (an important reaction for constructing carbon-carbon bonds).

　　Used to prepare hydroboration reagents (such as derivatives of sodium borohydride), or as a catalyst for esterification reactions.

　　Materials Field

　　As a raw material for ceramics and glass, used to prepare borosilicate glass (high-temperature resistant, corrosion-resistant), or to synthesize boron-based ceramic coatings via the sol-gel method.

　　Used to prepare semiconductor materials (such as boron-doped silicon-based materials), or as an intermediate for organic light-emitting materials (OLEDs).

　　Other Applications

　　As a solvent, used for low-temperature reactions in organic synthesis (due to its low boiling point and ease of separation).

　　Used to prepare flame retardants (boron-containing compounds can enhance the flame retardant properties of materials).

　　In analytical chemistry, used as a reagent for detecting diol compounds (by forming stable boronate ester complexes).
