Main Uses

　　Dye Industry:

　　A key intermediate in the synthesis of azo dyes and sulfur dyes, for example:

　　After reduction to o-chloroaniline, it can be further synthesized into acid dyes and ice dyes (such as Red Base KB), used for dyeing cotton and wool fabrics.

　　Through nucleophilic substitution to generate o-nitrophenol, used for synthesizing yellow dyes and indicators.

　　Pharmaceuticals and Pesticides:

　　As an intermediate for synthesizing antibacterial drugs and antimalarial drugs (such as the precursor of chloroquine).

　　Used for preparing herbicides and insecticides (such as nitrophenyl ether herbicides); their derivatives have selective killing effects on weeds and pests.
