1. Coatings and Ink Industry

High-boiling solvents: Used in water-based coatings, amino baking paints, epoxy resin coatings, etc., to dissolve resins (such as acrylic resins, nitrocellulose) and regulate volatility rates, preventing pinholes and orange peel in paint films (high boiling point extends leveling time);

Co-solvents: Assist in dispersing hydrophobic components (such as pigments, film-forming aids) in water-based systems, improving coating stability (e.g., promoting emulsion film formation in latex paints).

2. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Intermediates

As reaction solvents: Used in organic synthesis (such as the preparation of esters and ethers); due to moderate polarity, they can dissolve reactants and catalysts (such as acid-base catalysts), accelerating reactions;

Extractants: Separate polar organic compounds (such as extracting alcohols and ketones from water), utilizing their "amphiphilic" properties (hydrophilic groups interact with water, hydrophobic groups interact with organic matter).

3. Cleaning Agents and Daily Chemicals

Industrial cleaning agents: Dissolve grease, wax, and resin stains (such as lubricating oil on mechanical parts, ink residues on printing equipment), and are more environmentally friendly than traditional solvents (such as kerosene);

Cosmetic additives: Used as humectants (hydroxyl groups lock in moisture) and solvents (dissolving fragrances, preservatives) in skincare products, but due to low volatility, the amount used needs to be controlled (to avoid stickiness).

4. Other Industrial Uses

Brake fluid and hydraulic oil: Used as additives to improve the viscosity index and low-temperature fluidity of fluids (high boiling point, not prone to evaporation causing pressure drop);

Textile industry: Used as wetting agents and dispersants to help dyes adhere evenly to fibers (such as cotton and polyester dyeing);

Fuel additives: Improve the low-temperature fluidity of diesel fuel and prevent wax crystals from clogging fuel lines.
