Among these, the one used for certification requirements is IEC61340-5-1:2007 "Electrostatic Protection for Electronic Devices—Basic Requirements." This standard specifies particular requirements for an electrostatic discharge (ESD) control system based on quality management systems such as ISO9000, TL9000, or TS16949. It clearly defines the management and technical requirements for organizations establishing an ESD control system, covering the general requirements for planning an ESD control system, the three major management plan requirements for establishing an ESD control system, and the specific technical requirements for implementing an ESD control system (such as limits and technical requirements for grounding systems, personal grounding, electrostatic protected areas (EPA), packaging, and labeling).

Simultaneously, this standard is harmonized with the ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard issued by the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) in the United States, making it more adaptable to the inevitable market demand for international harmonization of ESD standards.

ANSI/ESD S20.20 Standard (Electrostatic Discharge Control Program): This is a national standard of the United States, issued by the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA). The latest version is also the 2007 edition, which is harmonized in content and format with the IEC61340-5-1:2007 standard. This standard is also part of a series of standards for electrostatic discharge testing and certification issued by ESDA and currently holds high recognition.
