On one hand, an organization must deal with numerous suppliers and faces the challenge of ensuring the procurement of high-quality products from suppliers around the world and across various levels of the supply chain, as well as standardizing procurement requirements. On the other hand, a supplier must also meet the diverse requirements of multiple customers. Suppliers must deliver products that meet different quality expectations and requirements for various customers, while also coping with the numerous, varied, and frequent second-party audits demanded by these customers.

Therefore, both organizations and suppliers hope to establish an international aerospace quality management system standard to unify the requirements for aerospace quality management systems.

The aerospace industry recognizes that while ISO 9001 provides a very good foundation, it is insufficient and does not fully meet the specific needs of the aerospace sector.
