Properties: Yellow rhombic crystals. Density 1.695 g/cm3. Melting point 211.5°C (18°C). Highly soluble in cold water. Forms a heptahydrate below 17.2°C. Transforms into a pentahydrate at 17.2°C, a dihydrate at 50–60°C, a monohydrate at 100–110°C, and becomes anhydrous when heated to 160–170°C. Used for treating metal surfaces.
