For coal samples with a particle size of 2–3 mm, under a pressure of 1 MPa, the compression length (L) of a sample with a diameter of 20 mm and a length of 60 mm represents the relative strength of the coal. Based on the experimental relationship between L and the f-value, the following formula is derived:
