Characteristics of Medium-Temperature Asphalt

1. Medium-temperature asphalt is a crude oil distillation product, typically appearing as a dense solid or semi-solid with a dark color, black or deep brown, relatively soft texture, certain toughness, but lacking good fluidity.

2. Medium-temperature asphalt possesses certain viscosity and waterproofing properties, often used as a raw material for waterproofing materials. It also has some anti-corrosion properties and can be applied in areas such as anti-corrosion coatings. Due to its relatively soft texture, it is commonly used in the production of adhesives, sealants, and other products.

3. Production Process

Medium-temperature asphalt can be obtained through crude oil distillation.

Applications of Medium-Temperature Asphalt:

Medium-temperature asphalt is used for manufacturing asphalt felt, building waterproofing layers, high-grade asphalt paint, etc. It is also a raw material for producing asphalt coke or delayed coke and modified asphalt. As a raw material for smelting asphalt coke: used as a binder for carbon electrodes and electrolytic aluminum anodes; for road waterproofing materials: asphalt felt coatings; production of batteries and as a binder for refractory materials.
