Flat cast iron gates are planar structural water flow control devices primarily made of cast iron, widely used in hydraulic engineering and municipal facilities.
Structural Composition
Mainly composed of gate frame, gate leaf, lifting seat, and sealing inclined iron. The gate frame serves as the supporting structure and sliding track for the gate leaf, fixed in the secondary concrete of the gate pier and base slab via anchor bolts, evenly transferring water pressure to the main structure. The gate leaf is the water-retaining component directly bearing water pressure, driven by hoisting machinery to adjust water levels through lifting and lowering.
Function and Application
Primarily used for flow control, water level regulation, and water retention, commonly seen in hydraulic projects such as rivers, reservoirs, and hydropower stations, as well as in municipal water supply and drainage, and agricultural irrigation. Its planar structure minimizes flow resistance, making it suitable for small to medium-sized hydraulic projects.
Material and Sealing
Manufactured from gray cast iron or ductile cast iron, the sealing structure employs inclined iron or copper alloy facings. A wedge block mechanism, combined with water pressure, enables bidirectional sealing, with leakage controlled within the range of 0.03–0.07 L/m·s.
Installation and Maintenance
Installation requires overall hoisting into the slot followed by secondary concrete pouring, adjusting sealing surface gaps to within 0.1 mm. Regular lubrication and anti-corrosion treatment are necessary to ensure smooth operation and extend service life.
