I. Overview of Ductile Concrete

Ductile concrete is a premixed material composed of cement, fly ash, mineral powder, silica fume, quartz sand, quartz powder, steel fibers, water-reducing agents, and various other admixtures, which is factory-preblended. After adding water and mixing, it undergoes setting and hardening to form a cement-based composite material characterized by high flexural strength, high toughness, and high durability.

Steel structure bridges are increasingly becoming the mainstream method of bridge construction. However, under the high-frequency rolling of overloaded heavy vehicles, traditional steel deck pavements are prone to fatigue cracking between the deck plates, longitudinal ribs, and transverse diaphragms. This results in insufficient local stiffness of the steel deck, leading to frequent damage of the deck pavement and necessitating repeated major repairs.

The tensile strength of ultra-ductile concrete is 10 times that of traditional concrete, and its fracture toughness is 200 times greater. After combining the steel box girder with ductile concrete into an integrated structure, the local stiffness of the deck increases by 40 times, significantly reducing the risk of fatigue cracking in the steel deck.
