KEDLS-A Cable Identifier

I. Product Introduction
       The KEDLS-A Cable Identifier is a specialized instrument developed to meet the specific needs of the power industry. It is used in the installation, relocation, maintenance, and fault handling of power cables to determine the operational status of cables (i.e., whether they are live or de-energized) and to identify specific de-energized cables. It features accurate and fast identification, simple operation, and wide applicability. It is currently an advanced and high-performance new instrument among similar domestic products.
       This cable identifier consists of three parts: a signal generator, a receiving clamp, and a signal detector. The signal generator primarily produces a special pulse-modulated signal, which is applied to the de-energized cable under test via output lines. The receiving clamp is used on-site to locate the target cable. When the clamp detector detects the special signal applied to the cable, the meter pointer on the signal detector swings synchronously with the signal frequency. In contrast, signals detected on other cables are much weaker and in the opposite direction. The target cable can be easily identified based on the amplitude and direction indicated by the meter. When used in conjunction with the signal generator, the receiving clamp and signal detector can also determine the live status of cables or assist in locating cable short circuits. When using the receiving clamp, the clamp jaws should grip the cable.

IV. Working Principle
       The high-power special signal emitted by the transmitter of this cable identifier is applied to the selected cable. When the receiving clamp is attached to the selected cable in the specified direction (with the signal connector on the clamp facing the direction of the instrument's current flow), the induced current pulse direction is indicated by the pointer of the signal detector, and the reflected amplitude is significant. For adjacent cables, due to inductive or capacitive coupling or signals caused by return currents through the shielding layer, the meter pointer will swing in the opposite direction, and the intensity will be weaker compared to the correct cable current.
