The rose is known as the queen of flowers, also called "monthly red." It is an evergreen or semi-evergreen low shrub that blooms throughout the four seasons, typically in red or pink, occasionally in white and yellow. It can be used as an ornamental plant or a medicinal herb, and is also referred to as the Chinese rose. There are three natural varieties. Modern roses come in diverse forms, including single and double petals, as well as elegant shapes like high-centered and rolled edges. Their colors are vibrant and rich, not only in solid shades like red, pink, yellow, and white, but also in varieties with mixed colors and silver edges. Most varieties are fragrant. With a vast number of cultivars, there are nearly ten thousand varieties worldwide, and over a thousand in China.
