The MPC-365 System consists of an MPC-200 controller and one to six MP-865 micromanipulators.

MPC-200 Controller and ROE

Neurobiology experiments are becoming increasingly complex. Many experiments require multiple manipulators with control units, which can quickly become overwhelming in terms of space and/or cost. The MPC-200 is the solution you've been dreaming of. One controller can operate two manipulators! Sutter Instrument has taken the simplicity of the MP-225 controller and expanded it so that a single controller/ROE can operate two manipulators. The MPC-200 can be used with one or two of our world-renowned manipulators, such as the MP-285 (MPC-385), MP-225 (MPC-325), or the narrow-profile MP-865 (MPC-365).

If two manipulators are not enough, a second controller can be daisy-chained, allowing a single ROE-200 to control up to four manipulators. Thus, the system can be easily expanded to control highly complex experiments.

The Sutter MPC-200 is electrically quiet. Unlike competing products, our multi-unit controller uses linear output circuitry. Sutter can add additional manipulators to the same controller without the need for chopper drives that can generate noise.

The fourth axis of all our manipulators can be set and changed without connecting to an external computer to download and configure software. Each output of this manipulator controller can be individually configured. If needed, each manipulator can approach the workpiece from a different angle relative to the horizontal. The fourth axis can be configured between the X and Z axes, or between the Y and Z axes (useful when the manipulator is rotated 90 degrees relative to the workpiece).

Faster automated pipette changing. The MPC-200 features faster "Home" and "Work" position movements, enabling quicker pipette changes. The automated setup and run interface is the same as the MP-225 controller; however, automated movements are faster.

Accelerated Manual Mode. For users who prefer manual pipette changing, we have added an "Acceleration Mode" in the ROE. Using Acceleration Mode, users can quickly switch settings manually. Acceleration Mode enhances manual operation speed by smoothly accelerating to maximum speed during continuous rapid rotation of the ROE. Acceleration ceases immediately once the user stops turning the knob. For users requiring direct control of the pipette, this mode can be completely disabled.

MP-865 Micromanipulator

Our new MP-865 "Narrow Profile" manipulator is designed for patch clamp operations requiring 2 or more pipettes, as well as other applications where space is limited. The MP-865 is designed to minimize width, allowing for as many manipulator combinations as possible. Since radially guided manipulators do not require long travel on the transverse axis, the Y-axis travel is reduced to 12.5 mm. The X-axis travel is increased to 50 mm for quick and easy pipette changes.

Optional narrow stands with linear slides or rotary bases are available for mounting the MP-865 mechanism. The linear slide has a travel of 150 mm, allowing the manipulator to be quickly and smoothly retracted to a convenient position for pipette access and replacement. The rotary base can be used for mounting onto large platform stages (e.g., Sutter MT-78) or smaller Sutter MD series platforms.

Additional components can be added at any time, allowing users to customize the system to their needs. The controller features auto-detection, eliminating the need for manual component configuration.
