Leveraging years of experience in developing Flaming/Brown type micropipettes and incorporating cutting-edge technology, Sutter proudly introduces the P-1000 micropipette puller. Its most notable new feature is the color touchscreen, offering an intuitive and fully functional interface.
The P-1000 puller integrates the extensive program library from the popular Sutter Cookbook, accessible via the touchscreen. Simply specify the desired glass, filament, and pipette type, and the system will identify and install the appropriate program. This eliminates uncertainty in the pipette pulling process and simplifies programming.
Preheat mode actively heats and controls the jaw temperature, ensuring the jaws reach a specific temperature before glass pulling. This enhances the stability of the program with each pull. Copy-paste functionality ensures programs are easy to write, while line repeat mode simplifies multi-line programming. Safe Heat Mode is an additional feature that helps users avoid heating settings that could damage or burn out filaments. When enabled, the puller "checks" the installed heating values and alerts the user if the given value is too low or too high relative to the ramp value. User notes can be added to each program to annotate important information.
New features of the P-1000 include: diagnostic tests for all puller components, built-in error detection for air pressure loss or filament burnout, convenient ramp testing, jaw temperature measurement, and the ability to review previous pull results along with heating times for each cycle of the program. Additionally, help topics are preloaded to assist with on-site troubleshooting; a built-in glossary includes text, images, and diagrams to explain terms used in micropipette manufacturing. A rotary dial is also provided as an alternative keyboard for numerical input.
Every Sutter Instrument P-1000 micropipette puller undergoes a rigorous quality control process. Finished pullers are subjected to a 48-hour burn-in to identify any issues that could lead to premature failure. During this period, pull cycles are triggered over 2,800 times. Subsequently, seven pipettes are pulled and inspected under a scanning electron microscope to ensure high-quality production. Only after passing all tests is the puller delivered to the customer. We perform this testing on every P-1000 puller sold to guarantee its quality. Our other pullers, micromanipulators, light sources, imaging products, microscopes, and amplifier systems also undergo similarly stringent quality control before delivery.
