I. Overview

The rail expansion joint direction measuring ruler is specifically designed for measuring the alignment of rail expansion joints on straight tracks, tracks, and straight sections of turnouts, as well as for measuring the offset of rail expansion joints on curved tracks, tracks, and lead curves of turnouts. During use, three people are required to collaborate on alignment measurement: one serves as the alignment operator, holding the ruler to measure and record the alignment, while the other two act as line clamp operators, holding the line clamps at both ends of the alignment measurement range.

II. Usage Method

1. Before going on track, thread a string with a diameter not exceeding 1mm through the line clamp and tie a knot at the end. The length of the string is generally the length of the regulator plus 2m.

2. The two line clamp operators hold the line clamps at both ends of the alignment measurement range, ensuring they are pressed against the gauge line. When the two level bubbles on the line clamp are centered, the string is stretched taut and held firmly.

3. The alignment operator holds the ruler near one end of the line clamp, pressing the ruler against the gauge line. While centering the level bubble, loosen the locking bolt, adjust the ruler so that the 0刻度線 (zero scale line) aligns with the string, and then tighten the locking bolt.

4. The alignment operator can measure the alignment at any point. When taking readings, ensure the ruler is pressed against the gauge line and the level bubble on the ruler remains centered. Record the value of the scale line aligned with the string, which represents the alignment deviation value. A positive value indicates the alignment bulges in the direction of increasing gauge, while a negative value indicates the alignment concaves in the direction of decreasing gauge.

5. When the alignment operator measures near the other end of the line clamp, they should repeat the zero-line alignment check performed at the starting end of the line clamp. If a significant error is found (e.g., exceeding 0.3mm), readjust and remeasure the alignment.

6. After measurement, wipe the line clamps and ruler, properly wind the string, and place them in the equipment box.

III. Usage Precautions

l Handle with care during use to avoid impact.

l After completing the measurement, promptly reinstall the probe protective cover.

l When the instrument is not in use, store it in a safe place away from heat sources and humid environments.

IV. Calibration

Before use, it must be calibrated by a professional calibration agency. During use, periodic calibration must be maintained, with the maximum interval not exceeding six months.
