Apron conveyors are a versatile type of fixed conveying equipment that uses continuously running chains or rollers as traction components and steel plates as the carrying troughs. They are suitable for transporting large quantities of bulk materials and heavy individual items, offering high traction, rigid trough plates, and impact resistance. They are ideal for conveying hot, large-sized, abrasive, and heavy castings or forgings, as well as bulk or packaged items, either horizontally or on an incline. They can also handle high-temperature materials up to approximately 600°C. Apron conveyors are widely used in industries such as chemical, machinery, metallurgy, coal, mining, power, casting, automotive manufacturing, cement, and waste treatment. They feature compact structure, stable operation, low failure rate, high load capacity, and a wide range of speed options. As continuous conveying equipment, apron conveyors are mostly fixed in installation. Their structure consists of a head wheel assembly, chain plate assembly, tail wheel tensioning device, frame, and drive unit. The working principle involves the head sprocket, once driven, engaging with the traction chain in the chain plate assembly, moving the entire apron along the longitudinal centerline of the conveyor, while rollers travel along tracks fixed to the frame, completing the conveying process.

Apron conveyors (also known as apron chain conveyors) use closed, continuously running chains as traction components and butted or overlapping flat plates, corrugated plates, trough-shaped, or box-shaped elements as carrying components. The traction and carrying components together form the chain plate assembly; the traction chains can be connected to the carrying components via chain attachments or directly. The carrying components bear the load themselves and are supported by rollers or idlers fixed to the frame. Apron conveyors have no special requirements for material size, lump form, or working environment. They can handle individual items weighing up to 70-120 kg, with conveyor lengths reaching 40-80 meters and allowing inclinations up to 25°. Apron conveyors are categorized into light, medium, and heavy types.
