What material is A2? A2 steel is a high-quality, high-toughness, wear-resistant tool steel from the United States, belonging to the air-hardening type. It has a high carbon content of about 1%. After polishing, the surface of the steel appears relatively dull, with excellent corrosion resistance and extremely high ductility. The wear resistance of the mold edges is good. This steel has good hardenability, uniform carbide distribution, certain impact toughness, and good wear resistance. It exhibits excellent air-hardening properties, with minimal dimensional deformation after air quenching, and uniform, fine carbides.

On which molds is A2 tool steel used? A2 tool steel is suitable for drawing dies, hemming dies, embossing dies; it is applicable for cutting tools; used for thermosetting plastic molds, and through-hardening mold steels.

Supply Condition and Factory Hardness:

A2 tool steel bars, plates, round bars, and material blocks are supplied in the annealed condition, with a factory hardness of approximately 255 HBS.

Heat Treatment Process:

A2 tool steel quenching temperature 950°C, oil cooling, tempering temperature 230°C, heat treatment hardness 54-62 HRC.
