This policy applies to infant diaper changing products including changing tables, changing table accessories, changing table add-on units, and contoured changing pads. This policy covers household infant diaper changing products intended for children weighing up to 30 pounds. For example, flat, non-contoured changing pads typically used with diaper bags are not included in this definition and are therefore not subject to this policy.
1. Changing Table
A changing table is a free-standing, elevated structure typically designed to support a child weighing up to 30 pounds (13.61 kilograms). The child lies in a supine position to facilitate diaper changing by a caregiver. A changing table may be repurposed from or converted into other furniture items (such as dressers, tables, cabinets, bookshelves, play yards, or other furniture) and may include storage for diapers and diaper supplies. This policy does not apply to changing tables used in public facilities (e.g., public restrooms).
2. Changing Table Accessory
A changing table accessory can be attached to a crib or play yard to convert it into a changing table, typically featuring a rigid frame with sides and/or bottom enclosed by soft mesh fabric.
3. Changing Table Add-On Unit
A changing table add-on unit is a rigid item that can be attached to furniture or used as a separate product with furniture to provide protection against the infant rolling off during diaper changing.
4. Contoured Changing Pad
A contoured changing pad is designed for use on elevated surfaces, with raised sides to prevent the child from rolling off the changing table.
Amazon requires that all infant diaper changing products covered by this policy must be tested and comply with the following specific regulations and standards:
All of the following:
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (Lead, Phthalates); and
16 CFR Part 1130 (Consumer Registration Requirements for Durable Infant or Toddler Products); and
Section 14(a)(5) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (Tracking Labels); and
Any one of the following:
ASTM F2388 – 21 Standard (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Diaper Changing Products for Domestic Use); or
16 CFR Part 1235 (Requirements for Infant Diaper Changing Products)
