Properties: Pale yellow crystals, melting point 240–244°C, soluble in dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran at room temperature, slightly soluble in acetone and benzene, insoluble in chloroform.

Applications: N-(4-Carboxyphenyl)maleimide introduces a maleimide group, which, upon vulcanization or exposure to high radiation energy, accepts free radicals to open the double bond, forming cross-links and generating cross-linking effects with rubber or polymer materials. Additionally, N-substituted maleimide derivatives can act as vulcanization cross-linking agents. For example, during vulcanization cross-linking, the addition of peroxides or other initiators generates free radicals, leading to graft polymerization and resulting in cross-linking to form macromolecules.

N-(4-Carboxyphenyl)maleimide  can be used in natural rubber and various synthetic rubbers as a general or special rubber vulcanizing agent; it can also be used for vulcanizing fluororubber; it serves as a sensitizer for radiation cross-linking; and it can be used as a monomer for preparing thermally stable polymers. N-(4-Carboxyphenyl)maleimide can be combined with vulcanization cross-linking agents such as sulfur, DM, and DCP to reliably produce vulcanized rubber with high tear strength and high fatigue resistance. For radiation cross-linking, use 2–4 parts; for vulcanization, use 1–2 parts.

Packaging: 25 kg plastic woven bags, paper-plastic composite bags, or kraft paper bags.

Storage: Should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Packaged products should be protected from direct sunlight.
