Chinese Name: High Purity Benzoic Acid (Food Grade) English Name: benzoic acid Chinese Name 2: Benzoic Acid English Name 2: carboxybenzene Molecular Formula: C6H5COOH Molecular Weight: 122.12 CAS No.: 65-85-0 Characteristics: White crystalline powder, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in water, with a benzoin odor, sublimates when heated. Uses 【Use 1】Used in the production of pharmaceuticals, dye carriers, plasticizers, fragrances, and food preservatives, also for improving the performance of alkyd resin coatings. 【Use 2】Mainly used as an antifungal and disinfectant preservative. 【Use 3】Used as a chemical reagent and preservative. 【Use 4】Commonly used as a fixative or preservative. Also used as a flavor preserver in fruit juice beverages. Can be used in incense fragrances as a balsamic note. Also used in edible flavors such as chocolate, lemon, orange, berry, nut, and candied types. Often used in tobacco flavors as well. 【Use 5】Preservative; antimicrobial agent. Due to the low solubility of benzoic acid, it must be fully stirred when used, or dissolved in a small amount of hot water or ethanol. When used in concentrated fruit juices for soft drinks, since benzoic acid easily volatilizes with steam, its sodium salt is commonly used. 1g of sodium salt is equivalent to 0.847g of benzoic acid. 【Use 6】Benzoic acid is an important acidic food preservative. Under acidic conditions, it inhibits molds, yeasts, and bacteria, but is less effective against acid-producing bacteria. The optimal pH for inhibition is 2.5~4.0, generally below pH 4.5~5.0 is advisable. In the food industry, for concentrated fruit and vegetable juices packaged in plastic barrels, the maximum usage should not exceed 2.0g/kg; in jams (excluding canned), fruit-flavored beverages, soy sauce, and vinegar, the maximum usage is 1.0g/kg; in soft candies, wine, and fruit wine, the maximum usage is 0.8g/kg; in low-salt pickles, sauces, and preserved fruits, the maximum usage is 0.5g/kg; in carbonated beverages, the maximum usage is 0.2g/kg. Since benzoic acid is slightly soluble in water, a small amount of ethanol can be used to dissolve it when applied.  Packaging: 25kg/bag Content: ≥99.6%
