Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C?N?) is a planar two-dimensional layered structure similar to graphene, composed of two basic units: triazine rings (C?N?) and 3-s-triazine rings (C?N?), which extend infinitely to form a network structure. The two-dimensional nanosheets are held together by van der Waals forces. g-C?N? has a highly suitable semiconductor band edge position and effectively activates molecular oxygen, making it widely applicable in catalysis. It appears as a solid pale yellow powder, is slightly soluble in water, non-toxic, but inhalation of the powder may cause respiratory tract diseases.
