III. Physical and Chemical Properties:

White powder, odorless, tasteless. This product is a strong alkaline substance with irritating and corrosive effects. Inhalation of its dust can cause severe irritation to the respiratory tract and may lead to chemical pneumonia. Eye contact results in strong irritation and can cause burns. Accidental fall into a slaked lime pool can cause extensive corrosive burns. Long-term exposure may lead to dermatitis and ulcerative dermatitis.
 

IV. Characteristics and Uses

It can be used in rubber and petrochemical additives, such as in the petroleum industry where it is added to lubricating oils to prevent coking, sludge deposition, and for neutralization and corrosion inhibition. Generally, lubricant manufacturers require it, but in small quantities. In the electroplating and dyeing industries, it is used to treat acidic wastewater and neutralize pH. Years of supply experience indicate that calcium hydroxide must be used in the electroplating alumina industry to treat wastewater; otherwise, aluminum levels will exceed standards. Additionally, it can be used in thermal power plants for flue gas desulfurization or waste incineration.
