An air compressor air filter is a type of filter, also known as an air filter cartridge, air cleaner, or air element. It is primarily used for air filtration in engineering vehicles, automobiles, agricultural machinery, laboratories, sterile operating rooms, and various precision operating environments. During operation, an engine inhales a large amount of air. If the air is not filtered, dust suspended in the air can be drawn into the cylinders, accelerating the wear of the piston assembly and cylinders. Larger particles entering between the piston and cylinder can cause severe "cylinder scoring," which is particularly problematic in dry, sandy working environments. The air filter is installed in front of the carburetor or intake pipe to remove dust and sand particles from the air, ensuring that a sufficient amount of clean air enters the cylinders. Various types of air filters have their own advantages and disadvantages, but they all inevitably face the trade-off between airflow and filtration efficiency. With ongoing research into air filtration, the requirements for air filters have become increasingly stringent. New types of air filters have emerged, such as fiber filter element air filters, composite filtration material air filters, muffler air filters, and constant-temperature air filters, to meet the operational needs of engines.

The function of an air compressor air filter is to allow oil-containing compressed air generated by the main unit to enter the cooler, undergo mechanical separation, and then pass through the oil-gas filter element for filtration. It aggregates oil mist in the gas to form oil droplets, which collect at the bottom of the filter element and return to the compressor lubrication system via the oil return pipe. This ensures that the compressor discharges pure, high-quality compressed air. Simply put, it is a device that removes solid dust, oil-gas particles, and liquid substances from compressed air.
