Usage Description

MPS200 Reverse Osmosis Acid Cleaner is a low-pH liquid formulation used to remove metal oxides, calcium carbonate, and other types of scale. It is specifically designed for cleaning scale on reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes, and is highly effective at removing iron scale. Excellent cleaning results can extend membrane operation time. It can be used with reverse osmosis membranes and TFC membrane elements from Dow Chemical (Dow Filmtec), Hydranautics, and domestic manufacturers, as well as nanofiltration membrane elements.

Usage Instructions

Prepare a 4% (by weight) cleaning solution using reverse osmosis effluent or desalinated water, or add 1 kg of MPS200 to every 25 kg of water. Adjust the pH to 3.0 ± 0.5.

The cleaning time depends on the amount of scale, typically completed within 1 to 2 hours. If the pH value exceeds 4 during cleaning, it indicates that the cleaning solution is nearly depleted and should be replenished or replaced immediately.

After use, neutralize the MPS200 cleaner with alkali before discharging.

Before putting the system back into operation, the operator must rinse the membrane surface to ensure all residues of the cleaning solution are completely removed. This can be monitored by checking the pH of the concentrate water until it drops to the same pH as the feed water.
