1、Technical Background

When domestic water containing large amounts of bacteria and organic matter enters the domestic hot water system, in pipeline sections where the water temperature is ≤40°C, the growth and reproduction rate of bacteria accelerates, increasing the risk of microbial contamination. According to foreign literature, the relationship between the growth and death of Legionella (naked bacteria) and hot water temperature shows that a water temperature of 35°C–46°C is the most ideal environment for Legionella reproduction.

2、Sterilization Principle

Silver in a high oxidation state has an extremely high reduction potential, sufficient to generate atomic oxygen in its surrounding space. Atomic oxygen possesses strong oxidizing properties that can eliminate bacteria. Silver ions (Ag+) can strongly adsorb the protease of bacterial cells and quickly bind with it, destroying the bacterial protease, preventing respiration, deactivating the bacteria, and leading to bacterial death. After bacteria are killed by silver ions (Ag+), the Ag+ ions are released from the bacterial remains and come into contact with other colonies, repeating the above process cyclically. This is also the reason for the long-lasting sterilization effect of silver. Scientific analysis shows that as little as 0.0000002 mg of silver ions per liter of water is sufficient to kill most bacteria in the water. When the Ag+ concentration in water is 0.01 mg/L, it can completely kill large bacilli in the water and prevent the growth of new bacterial colonies for up to 90 days. An American scientist once conducted an experiment in which 4.5 liters of sewage (containing over 7,000 E. coli per milliliter) were treated with silver electrodes for 3 hours, resulting in the complete death of all E. coli. It is precisely because of silver's exceptional sterilization capability and its harmlessness to humans and animals.

4、Composition of Silver Ion Disinfectors

The silver ion disinfector consists of a microelectronic controller, a housing, and silver ion generation electrodes. After the device is operational, the microelectronic controller outputs low-voltage direct current. The two silver metal blocks serve as the cathode and anode, respectively. Under the influence of the low-voltage direct current, silver ions are generated at the anode. When water passes through the auxiliary unit, silver ions diffuse into the water under the flow, purifying the water. The microelectronic controller regulates the amount of silver ions produced by controlling the magnitude of the direct current. It also includes a timer-controlled polarity reversal to prevent unequal electrode consumption. When both electrodes are completely consumed, they can be replaced with a new pair to continue use.
