1. Physical Properties
   Dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) is a pale yellow oily liquid with excellent thermal stability and cold resistance (applicable temperature range: -70°C to 70°C). It exhibits low volatility, strong hydrophobicity, outstanding electrical insulation properties, and a flash point as high as 205-210°C. It remains stable under room temperature conditions.

2. Chemical Performance
   It is insoluble in water but easily soluble in organic solvents. It demonstrates good compatibility with polymer materials such as PVC and rubber, with significantly superior migration resistance and extraction resistance compared to traditional phthalate plasticizers.

II. Main Applications

Plastic and Rubber Processing

• PVC Plasticizer: Widely used as a primary plasticizer in high-temperature-resistant cable materials (especially 70°C-grade cable sheaths), artificial leather, agricultural films, and hoses. It enhances material flexibility, wear resistance, and processing efficiency.
• Rubber Modification: Improves the elasticity and aging resistance of synthetic rubber, used in products such as seals and hoses.

Other Industrial Fields

• Coatings and Inks: Enhances film adhesion, weather resistance, and fluidity.
• Specialty Materials:

  • Used as a paper softener and lubricant for precision instruments;

  • Employed in the production of safety glass and acrylonitrile derivatives.

III. Safety and Market

1. Safety:
   It is not classified as a hazardous chemical (not listed in regulatory statutes), but prolonged skin contact should be avoided.
2. Industrial Status:
   Due to its environmental friendliness (free of phthalate structures), it is gradually replacing traditional plasticizers. Price fluctuations in East China in 2023 reflect its active market demand.
