GH600 Overview

GH600 is an early-developed nickel-chromium-iron-based solid solution strengthened alloy, featuring excellent high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance, as well as superior cold and hot working and welding process performance. It exhibits satisfactory thermal strength and high plasticity below 700°C. The alloy can be strengthened through cold working and can be joined by resistance welding, fusion welding, or brazing. It is available in cold-rolled thin sheets, hot-rolled thick plates, strips, wires, bars, discs, ring blanks, and ring forgings, making it suitable for manufacturing oxidation-resistant components bearing low loads below 1100°C.

GH600 Heat Treatment System

Sheets: 1010-1050°C, 3-5 min/mm, air cooling; Strips: 1010°C±10°C, air cooling; Wires: 1065°C±10°C, air cooling. Bars and ring components: test specimens undergo solution treatment at 1010°C±10°C followed by air cooling.

Varieties, Specifications, and Supply Conditions

Available in various specifications of sheets, bars, strips, wires, discs, ring blanks, and ring forgings. Bars are supplied in forged or rolled condition, with surfaces polished or turned; discs and ring blanks are supplied in forged condition; rings are supplied in solution-treated condition; sheets are supplied after solution treatment, alkaline pickling, straightening, and edge trimming; strips are delivered after cold rolling, solution treatment, and descaling; wires are delivered in solution-pickled coils or straight lengths, or in solution-treated straight lengths with fine polishing.

GH600 Application Overview and Special Requirements

This alloy has mature usage experience abroad. Domestically, it has been used to manufacture aerospace engine components, passing flight tests, and has also begun to be used in aviation applications.

GH600 Process Performance and Requirements

Forming Performance

The alloy has good hot working performance. The forging heating temperature for ingots is 1110-1140°C, with a final forging temperature not less than 950°C. The rolling heating temperature for slabs is 1130-1170°C, and the finish rolling heating temperature is 1090-1130°C. The final solution treatment temperature is 1010-1050°C.

Welding Performance

The alloy has good welding performance and can be joined by various methods such as arc welding, argon arc welding, resistance welding, and brazing. Large or complex welded structures should be annealed at 870°C for 1 hour after fusion welding to eliminate welding stress.

Component Heat Treatment Process

The heat treatment process for components should follow the heat treatment system specified in the corresponding material standards. Annealing treatment for thin sheet and strip components should be carried out in a protective atmosphere.
