Properties: White or off-white granules, easily soluble in water, aqueous solution is acidic, insoluble in alcohol, acetone, and ammonia. Releases ammonia gas when reacting with alkalis. Easily deliquescent.
Uses: In the chemical industry, used as a raw material for the production of hydrogen peroxide, ammonium alum, and ammonium chloride; in the welding industry, used as flux; in the textile industry, used as a fire retardant for fabrics; in the electroplating industry, used as an additive for electroplating baths. In agriculture, used as a nitrogen fertilizer, suitable for general soil and crops. Food-grade products are used as dough conditioners and yeast nutrients.
