The diving helmet is a tinned copper cap that encloses the diver's head and is a crucial component for normal breathing underwater. It includes the helmet shell and the breastplate.
The breastplate consists of the chin, studs, lower collar, pressure plate, and edge bolts;
The helmet shell and breastplate are bolted together via the upper and lower collars, with a leather gasket in the lower collar to ensure watertightness;
The face window and ear windows are made of transparent tempered glass for the diver's observation. A protective cover provides additional protection;
Air enters the diving helmet through the intake valve and ventilation tube. The ventilation tube splits into three paths to control airflow, supplying fresh air for the diver to breathe and preventing condensation on the windows. The intake valve is a one-way check valve that ensures airtightness at a pressure of 0.05 MPa/cm2, allowing the diver to escape in case of air supply interruption;
Exhaled air is expelled through the exhaust valve, which is tested for airtightness at 0.05 MPa after assembly to control the air volume inside the helmet. The exhaust valve can be adjusted using a regulating screw to control the exhaust rate;
The cable connector on the helmet shell is a stud for introducing telephone wires, equipped with a compression ring and packing for watertightness. Once the wire enters the helmet shell, it is secured by a clamp, with a screw at the end to fix the speaker of the semiconductor diving telephone;
The studs at the front of the breastplate are used for attaching weight leads. The outer edge of the breastplate has 3 or 12 bolts that fit into the holes of the diving suit's breastplate. The pressure plate and wing nuts secure the diving suit, and a nut wrench is provided specifically for tightening the wing nuts;
The diving gear worn on the body includes: helmet (10 kg), breastplate (3 kg), diving suit (3 kg), weight lead (36 kg), air supply hose, and diving boots (24 kg). The full set weighs 76 kg, making it challenging even to take a photo while wearing the complete equipment.
