The code disc (grating disc) features evenly spaced rectangular holes on a circular plate of a certain diameter. As the photoelectric code disc is coaxial with the motor, when the motor rotates, the code disc (grating disc) rotates at the same speed. The detection device, composed of electronic components such as light-emitting diodes, outputs several pulse signals. By calculating the number of pulses output by the photoelectric encoder per second, the current motor speed can be determined.
