L-Menthol, Menthyl Acetate, Menthone, Neomenthol, Isomenthone, Pulegone, 3-Octanol, etc.

【Preparation Method】

Obtained by steam distillation of the whole flowering plant (above-ground green parts) of the herbaceous plant Mentha arvensis from the Lamiaceae family.

It solidifies slightly upon cooling. Freezing point 5~28°C, acid value less than 2, soluble in non-volatile oils, mineral oil, and propanediol, insoluble in glycerol.

【Quality Standards】

【Appearance】Colorless or pale yellow clear liquid. Exhibits a strong peppermint aroma and a cool, moderately bitter taste. Unstable to strong acids and bases. Easily soluble in ethanol, most non-volatile oils, mineral oil, and propylene glycol, insoluble in glycerol.

Relative Density: 0.888～0.908,

Refractive Index: 1.456～1.466,

Optical Rotation: -24°～-15°,

Ester Content (as Menthyl Acetate): 5.6%～18.4%,

Solubility: Fully soluble in 2.5～3.5 volumes of 70% ethanol.

Total Alcohol Content (as Menthol): 28-40% or more;

Additionally, manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium, and copper are also primary components of peppermint.
