Anderen Torsion Viscometer

The torsion viscometer has been used for over 50 years in the ceramic industry for online detection of slurry and glaze viscosity, and is highly favored by users. It is easy to operate, has good repeatability, and requires no power supply.

The reading obtained from the instrument is the overswing degree, which primarily represents a fluidity parameter. Operators need to use this test to empirically establish their own standards and determine within what reading range the tested material is usable. Generally, readings within an extension of 10-20 degrees from the user-established standard are considered acceptable.

If a user obtains a reading higher than the established standard, it indicates that the material is "too thin." Conversely, if the reading is lower, the material is "too viscous."

The torsion viscometer is simple to operate and easy to maintain.

It has three easily adjustable leveling feet.

Attachments are installed with brass wing nuts for easy adjustment without the need for other tools.

The standard torsion viscometer comes with a 30swg metal torsion wire, a 11/16”cylindrical bob, and a stainless steel sample cup.
