Uses of Hydrofluoric Acid

Hydrofluoric acid is used as a raw material in the production of refrigerants such as "Freon", fluorinated resins, organic fluorides, and fluorine. In chemical production, it serves as a catalyst for organic synthesis processes including alkylation, polymerization, condensation, and isomerization. It is also used for pickling stainless steel and non-ferrous metals, etching scales on glass instruments, engraving patterns and characters on glassware and mirrors, polishing glassware, frosting light bulbs, treating general bulbs, purifying metal graphite emulsions by removing silicon, removing sand from metal castings, eliminating graphite ash, and manufacturing semiconductors (germanium, silicon). Additionally, it acts as a catalyst in dye synthesis and other organic syntheses. It is further applied in electroplating, reagents, fermentation, ceramic processing, and the production of fluorinated resins and flame retardants.
