Water hardness is primarily caused by cations such as calcium and magnesium ions. When raw water containing hardness passes through the resin layer of the exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are adsorbed by the resin, while sodium ions are released simultaneously. As a result, the water flowing out of the exchanger becomes softened water, free of hardness ions. When the resin adsorbing calcium and magnesium ions reaches a certain saturation level, the hardness of the outlet water increases. At this point, the water softener automatically initiates the regeneration of the exhausted resin according to a predetermined program, using a high-concentration sodium chloride solution to pass through the resin layer, restoring the exhausted resin to its sodium form.

The fully automatic water softening equipment mainly consists of three parts:

1. Automatic control device: Depending on user requirements, it can be configured with either time-controlled or flow-controlled fully automatic controllers. It can also be equipped with multi-way control valves or hydraulic/electric multi-valve control systems.

2. Tank section: Based on user specifications, the ion exchange tank can be made of materials such as fiberglass, rubber-lined carbon steel, or stainless steel.

3. Accessories section: Includes water distribution devices, salt absorption devices, pipeline fittings, and more.

1. Water supply: Untreated water passes through the resin layer, where an exchange reaction occurs to produce soft water.

2. Backwash: Water enters from the bottom of the resin layer, loosening the resin and removing fine debris.

3. Salt absorption regeneration: A high-concentration salt solution flows through the resin, restoring the exhausted resin to its usable sodium form.

4. Rinse: Water follows the same flow path as during the supply phase to flush out excess salt solution and the exchanged calcium and magnesium ions.

5. Water refill: Water is added to the salt tank to dissolve salt particles, preparing for the next regeneration cycle.
