A feeler gauge is a measuring tool primarily used for measuring gap clearances. It consists of a set of thin steel strips with varying thickness increments, forming a gauge block.

Composed of a set of thin steel strips with different thickness increments, the feeler gauge is employed to measure gap dimensions. When inspecting whether a measured dimension meets specifications, it can be determined using the "go/no-go" method, or the inspector can judge based on the tightness of fit between the feeler gauge and the measured surface. Feeler gauges are typically made of stainless steel, with the thinnest strip being 0.02 mm and the thickest up to 3 mm. Between 0.02 mm and 0.1 mm, the thickness increment of each strip is 0.01 mm; between 0.1 mm and 1 mm, the thickness increment is generally 0.05 mm; for thicknesses above 1 mm, the increment is 1 mm. In addition to the metric system, imperial feeler gauges are also available.
