The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is 6.0~7.0. Vigorous shaking of its aqueous solution produces rich foam. 1-Cetylpyridinium Chloride has good surface activity and disinfection properties, and is highly effective in biological extraction applications.

Melting point is 77~83°C, with one molecule of crystal water.
