Product Description: White crystalline or powder; crystalline form; trigonal prism; its aqueous solution is alkaline with a pH value of about 9–9.5. At 33.4°C, the maximum solubility is about 28%. It oxidizes to sodium sulfate when exposed to air and decomposes to sodium sulfide at high temperatures. Density is 2.633 (15.4°C), refractive index 1.565; molecular weight 126.04.

Applications: Used in the printing and dyeing industry as a deoxidizer and bleaching agent for various cotton fabrics during scouring to prevent localized oxidation of cotton fibers, which affects fiber strength. In the photographic industry, it is used as a developer. In the organic industry, it serves as a reducing agent in the production of m-phenylenediamine, 2,5-dipyrazolone, aminosalicylic acid, etc. In the textile industry, it is used as a stabilizer and in the production of artificial fibers. Also used in papermaking, electronics, water treatment, and other industries.
