γ-Aminobutyric acid, English name: γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), also known as: aminobutyric acid, piperidic acid. Chemical name: 4-aminobutyric acid, widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. On September 27, 2009, the Ministry of Health approved γ-aminobutyric acid as a new resource food. γ-Aminobutyric acid is widely distributed in animals and plants and is an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the animal central nervous system. It is a safe, green, and novel feed additive. Research on its application in livestock and poultry diets shows that GABA can promote animal feeding, regulate endocrine function, improve immune performance, and enhance stress resistance in livestock and poultry, gradually attracting attention and recognition from animal nutritionists.
