Specification | Indicator | Pigment Blue 60 (also known as Indanthrene Blue, Anthraquinone Blue, Ciba brand CROMOPHTAL BLUE A3R, BASF brand PALIOGEN BLUE L6480, Clariant brand HOSTAPERM BLUE 01) is a reddish blue with excellent light, heat, and weather fastness, high transparency, and solvent resistance. It is mainly used in automotive original topcoats, refinish paints, industrial coil coatings, powder coatings, and particularly in metallic car paints. Due to its superior weather fastness compared to phthalocyanine pigments, it can be used in applications where phthalocyanine pigments are inadequate. Pigment Blue 60 is suitable for mass coloration of synthetic fibers (commonly known as "spin dyeing" or "fiber-grade masterbatch"), especially for polypropylene, where its application fastness exceeds that of phthalocyanine pigments. Pigment Blue 60 is also suitable for plastic coloring. Due to cost factors, it is limited to special applications requiring extremely high fastness. In polyolefins, its thermal stability reaches 300°C/5min (color difference DE for 1/3 SD HDPE sample treated below 200°C is only 1.5). In soft PVC, it exhibits excellent migration resistance and light fastness of grade 8 (1/3 SD). Pigment Blue 60 is also suitable for offset inks, solvent-based inks (including plastic composite inks), pen inks, and printer inks. Its excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and weathering makes it particularly suitable for high-end banknote printing inks.
