Colorless columnar crystals, odorless, slightly deliquescent. The relative density is 2.04, and the melting point is 60°C. It is easily soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol. If heated below 100°C, it can dissolve in its water of crystallization and convert to a monohydrate salt. When heated to 100°C, it loses its water of crystallization and becomes an anhydrous substance. If heating continues, it transforms into sodium metaphosphate.
