Product Use: Collector for oxidized metal ores such as rare earth ores, copper oxide ores, hematite, scheelite, and niobium-containing iron ores; extractant for metal ores like gallium and germanium. This product is slightly soluble in water, soluble in alkali, and can be formulated into water-soluble sodium or ammonium salts for use.

This article details the study on the flotation behavior of zinc oxide ores using the chelating collector—octyl hydroxamic acid. Initially, the floatability of smithsonite and ferroan smithsonite was investigated based on the sulfide-amine method. Subsequently, the effectiveness of octyl hydroxamic acid in flotation was examined and compared with the sulfide-amine method. The results indicate that the sulfide-amine method is only suitable for separating easily floatable smithsonite and does not act as a collector for difficult-to-float zinc oxide ores like ferroan smithsonite. In contrast, octyl hydroxamic acid not only effectively recovers smithsonite but also recovers ferroan smithsonite.
