ISO 12952-1Bedding Flammability Test Standard--Test Scope:

This part of ISO 12952 applies to bedding items that are normally placed on a mattress: mattress covers, underlays, incontinence sheets and pads, sheets, blankets, electric blankets, duvets and duvet covers, pillows (regardless of filling) and bolsters, pillowcases.

It should also be noted that this part of ISO 12952 does not apply to mattresses, bed bases, and mattress pads.

ISO 12952-1Bedding Flammability Test Standard--Test Method:

These tests are conducted in a test cabinet with a calibrated airflow. The test specimen is placed on a mineral wool substrate, on top of steel hardware. The ignition source is applied to the flat surface, quilts, edge tape, under duvets, and between sheets.

During the cigarette test, from the start of the test, the bedding is allowed to smolder for one hour without producing externally visible smoke, heat, or glow. Additionally, the formation of flames caused by the smoldering cigarette is not permitted.
