Tetrahydrothiophene (abbreviated as THT) is a sulfur-containing saturated heterocyclic compound obtained through the catalytic hydrogenation of thiophene. After thiophene is reduced to tetrahydrothiophene, it no longer possesses a conjugated system or aromaticity. As a result, tetrahydrothiophene exhibits the properties of a general thioether, being easily oxidized to sulfoxides and sulfones (sulfolane).
