The Ducom Friction and Wear Testing Machine is a highly adaptable and versatile testing system that can be quickly reconfigured to promptly meet the evolving testing and characterization needs of the laboratory.

The meticulously designed testing platform is capable of meeting various testing and measurement standards while allowing users to extend their tests far beyond these standards. With an open-architecture design, the Ducom Friction and Wear Testing Machine can be transformed into a high-performance mechanical testing and imaging system.

The UMTest platform features a high-resolution stage, precise closed-loop positioning, and a force feedback system, making it robust and durable. A wide selection of load heads, motion modules, and accessories can be configured on a single platform for a variety of tests.

Multi-Scale Testing

By interchanging load heads, the testing and measurement capabilities of the UMTest platform can range from the nanoscale to the macroscale. Our load head options include our patented micro-force load head for multi-scale testing, the DeForce load head series, the CentiForce load head series, and the KiloForce load head series. Our specially developed bio-force load head is designed specifically for biological applications.

Any Motion

Precise and controllable motion is fundamental to many mechanical tests and all tribological tests. UMTest offers a wide variety of motion modules, allowing you to tailor your testing system to meet your specific motion requirements. All motion modules are software-controlled and programmable. Some of our standard motion modules include linear micro-drives, linear macro-drives, linear high-performance drives, and rotary drives. Other specialized drives are also available. These drives cover motion requirements for a range of applications, from pin-on-disk tests, piston and cylinder liner tests, to fretting wear tests.

Digital Microscopy

With our plug-and-play digital microscopy module, you now have complete flexibility to image your samples. Equipped with built-in microscope and microscopy modes, the digital microscopy module can be mounted on our unique movable beam and a large platform that easily accommodates small to large sample sizes.

3D Topography Measurement

A non-contact 3D profilometer head can be added to the UMTest to enhance surface measurement capabilities. Mounted on a movable Z-axis beam, the profilometer head can be quickly and conveniently positioned over the area of interest on the specimen for high-resolution 3D sample imaging. Integrated software works seamlessly, allowing test data, digital microscopy images, and 3D profilometry data to be combined for easy reporting.
