YOUNG Model 03002 Wind Sentry Anemometer


The YOUNG Model 03002 Wind Sentry Anemometer and Vane are professional-grade sensors suitable for a variety of wind measurement applications. These cost-effective sensors offer excellent sensitivity, corrosion resistance, and minimal components for easy maintenance.


The YOUNG Model 03002 Wind Sentry measures horizontal wind speed and direction. Three lightweight hemispherical cups generate an AC sine wave signal as they rotate. Wind direction is determined by a vane connected to a precision potentiometer inside the housing. The sensor construction utilizes UV-stabilized plastic with stainless steel and anodized aluminum components. Precision-grade stainless steel ball bearings are used in both the anemometer and vane. The sensor mounts on standard 1-inch IPS pipe. Termination is via a small clip-style connector (no special connector required) in the junction box at the base of the sensor.

The Wind Sentry is also available with 0-1 VDC output as Model 03002V, or 4-20 mA output as Model 03002L (both models scaled for 0-50 m/s and 0-360°). Recommended for use in high-noise areas or for installations with long cable runs, typically 300 meters (1000 feet) or more, up to several kilometers.

For wind speed only, the YOUNG Model 03102 Wind Sentry Anemometer, 03102V Wind Sentry Anemometer (0-1 VDC = 0-50 m/s), and 03102L Wind Sentry Anemometer (4-20 mA = 0-50 m/s) are available separately.
