They are all suitable for free-range farming techniques in sheds. 1. Site selection for the chicken shed: The sheds for raising local chickens can be built in hilly areas, orchards, or forests. Site selection should consider the area of the shed and the terrain of the location. There should be space for movement around the shed, and it is best if the chicken activity area includes small woods and wild grass, making grassy hills and slopes ideal for building sheds. The shed should be constructed on high, dry, flat, or slightly sloped land with good drainage. The ground inside the shed should be slightly higher than the surrounding area to facilitate drainage and keep the interior dry. The shed should face south or southeast to maximize sunlight exposure and drainage. It should not be built on hilltops with large day-night temperature variations or in low-lying areas prone to poor conditions. Factors such as water source quality, transportation, electricity, and the presence of pollution sources nearby should also be considered during site selection. 2. Structure of the chicken shed: The construction of the shed should be adapted to local conditions, taking into account factors such as lighting and ease of operation for feeding. It should provide both insulation against cold and cooling measures for heat. Drainage ditches should be built around the shed to promptly drain rainwater and prevent water accumulation outside from affecting the dryness inside.
